I hope all my readers had a wonderful summer – we’re back in the thick of it now here at UCD, with our new term just begun last week. This year in my school (Art History & Cultural Policy) I’m working with both MA classes (30 students in Arts Management & Cultural Policy; 14 in our new MA Art History: Curating & Collections) in addition to the annual crop of undergraduates, so it’s going to be a busy academic year! Although both classes are full for this academic year, if you’re interested in either of our programmes feel free to get in touch with me.

Also worth noting: this year’s competition for PhD funding via the Irish Research Council is now open, with a closing date of 1 November. UCD is running an information session on applying for these TOMORROW – 20 September, in case you’re interested… I am always happy also to speak with folks who have ambitions to pursue a PhD in art history, cultural history, arts management or cultural policy: contact me for a personal guide I’ve developed to doing a PhD, and an informal chat about what the right fit for you might be.

For all your job-seekers out there – I’ve just updated the jobs page with more than sixty new opportunities in the arts & cultural sector across the island. The range and type are pretty extraordinary — but it’s worth mentioning that the National Gallery of Ireland is currently hiring for ten new roles; and the nationwide Music Generation programme is hiring six new officers across the country. Lots of closing dates are in the coming days and weeks, so time to get cracking if you’re on the hunt!
