Hello all! I’ve just started a new LinkedIn group for alumni, staff and students associated with the Diploma in Arts Administration / MA in Arts Management and Cultural Policy at UCD.

We’d love the chance to stay in touch with you & pass on news and opportunities as we receive them. We have plans to organize alumni events, and of course help in any way we can in connecting you to one another! Please follow the link above & register to join us, and send along to other classmates with whom you’re in contact.

Happy new year!

Jobs have been freshly updated… weekly updates will resume in a week or so, as I gently ease back from maternity leave and get back up to speed with all the goings-on in the arts and cultural sector. Looking forward to a busy 2013!

New youth arts website – Your Arts Map (YAM.ie)

Image

I’m resurfacing briefly to highlight a groovy new online initiative aimed at 13-25 year olds that warrants a definite look-see… YAM.ie (Your Arts Map) is a listings service that plots youth arts events in Dublin using Google Maps, including event details and interactive public transportation information. It also allows folks to spread the word about events via social media. A quick browse pulled up tons of great listings… how fab it would be for this to spread country-wide!

It looks like a great way for young people to find something fun and interesting to do, and for arts organisations to better advertise events and programmes of special appeal. The website is open to free postings from both organisations and individuals.

Kudos to South Dublin County Council, Dublin City Council, Temple Bar Cultural Trust and the National Youth Council (with support from the Arts Council) for seeing this through… I hope it sees lots of activity over the coming months!

CFP: First issue of Irish Journal of Arts Management and Cultural Policy

The new Irish Journal of Arts Management and Cultural Policy will be launching this winter, and we’ve opened a open call for papers for the inaugural issue!

Sponsored by UCD Research and delivered via an open access online platform, the e-journal will feature new research and analysis across a wide range of Irish management and policy topics. The first issue of the journal is edited by a team from UCD and IADT, and submissions are peer reviewed by an international panel of academics.

We hope the launch of this journal will highlight the excellent research underway across our third level institutions and by those working in the sector, and provide a valuable resource for students, academics, practitioners and policy makers. In a time of unprecedented change and challenge, the journal’s aims are to encourage debate on topical issues in the arts and cultural sector, disseminate research findings to better inform policy development and management practice, and help to grow a vibrant Irish research community.

More details on the call for papers (including submission guidelines) can be found on the Journal tab above.

DEADLINE FOR INDICATIONS OF INTEREST: September 24th 2012

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: October 29th 2012

On maternity leave

Greetings all! Just a quick note that my son was born a few days ago and I’m currently on maternity leave for the next few months. Weekly round-ups will be on hold for the next while, though I will keep updating the jobs listings weekly/bi-weekly (just updated a few mins ago!)

Thanks!

Emily
